About Between
Between is a town in Walton County with 402 residents in the 2020 census. Settled in the 1850s and incorporated in 1908, it sits between the county's two largest cities, Loganville and Monroe — and the name is a story of defiance: strong public opposition to annexation by either neighbor fueled a successful incorporation movement, and the simplest, most obvious name won out. (Some claim the town is equidistant to Atlanta and Athens.) Historic sites include the Briscoe House and Mill House, added to the National Register in 2000, and the James Berrien Upshaw Homeplace on U.S.
