About Casa Grande
Casa Grande is a railroad-founded city in south-central Arizona, the largest city in Pinal County, sitting roughly halfway between Phoenix and Tucson on I-10. It began in 1879 as a Southern Pacific Railroad stop (first called Terminus) and incorporated in 1915, taking its name from the Casa Grande Ruins of the Hohokam (the monument itself sits in Coolidge). Long an agricultural and railroad hub, it has become a fast-growing commuter city: population 53,658 in 2020, about 68,927 by the 2024 estimate. Housing mixes historic downtown homes, newer subdivisions, resort communities, with a notable winter-resident presence.
