Greater Phoenix, AZ relocation guide
Moving to Eloy, AZ
About Eloy
Eloy is a city of about 15,635 residents (2020 Census; roughly 19,967 estimated for 2025, per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts) in central Pinal County, midway between Phoenix and Tucson. The name dates to 1902, when the Southern Pacific Railroad built a switchyard here; in 1918 three men bought land, subdivided it, and began growing cotton, favoring the name "Cotton City" — the Postal Service rejected it and chose Eloy instead (per the City of Eloy general plan history). The city incorporated in 1949 and has grown with the Phoenix–Tucson corridor. Agriculture remains deep in its roots (the fertile Santa Cruz Basin), while transportation, logistics, manufacturing, and correctional facilities now drive employment. Eloy's biggest claim to fame: Skydive Arizona at Eloy Municipal Airport, one of the nation's largest skydiving centers, moved here from Coolidge in 1991.
