About San Tan Valley
San Tan Valley is Arizona's newest municipality, incorporated as a town on September 17, 2025 after voters approved Proposition 495 in an August 5, 2025 election. It sits in northern Pinal County between Queen Creek (north and west) and Florence (south), bounded on the west by San Tan Mountain Regional Park and on the southwest by the Gila River Indian Community. Named for the nearby San Tan Mountains via an informal public poll, the area was largely undeveloped desert and agriculture before 2000 and has since filled with master-planned communities — Pecan Creek South, San Tan Heights, Archer Meadows, and Johnson Ranch among them. Population was 99,894 at the 2020 census (the county's largest place, unincorporated at the time).
