About Youngtown

Youngtown is a small, older town in the Northwest Valley (population ~7,000) with a singular claim to fame: founded in 1954, it was America's first planned community and it incorporated in 1960. The age restrictions were repealed in 1999, so today it is an all-ages town, but the quiet streets, modest ranch homes, and legacy of its retirement-community origins remain. Hemmed in by El Mirage, Sun City, and Peoria, it has almost no room to grow — which keeps it a compact, affordable, low-key alternative to its larger neighbors.
