About Ladson
Ladson (about 15,000 residents) is an unincorporated census-designated place straddling Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties — functionally a North Charleston/Summerville suburb with its own identity. Its landmarks are industrial and cultural: the former Force Protection plant (which built thousands of MRAP armored vehicles for the military) and Exchange Park, home of the Coastal Carolina Fair each fall. Housing is affordable subdivisions and manufactured-home communities along U.S. 78 and College Park Road.
