About Rockville
Rockville (about 140 residents) is one of South Carolina's smallest municipalities — a historic summer-colony village on Wadmalaw Island in Charleston County, settled by Charleston planters escaping the city heat. The Rockville Regatta (sailing races on Bohicket Creek, running since the late 1800s) and the Rockville Yacht Club still anchor summer social life, and Grace Chapel (1840s) is a landmark. There is essentially no commercial development; residents boat, sail, and drive to Johns Island or Kiawah/Seabrook for everything else.
