About Oak Ridge
Oak Ridge is a town in northwestern Guilford County, about 13 miles straight-line northwest of downtown Greensboro (2020 census population: 7,474, per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). Incorporated in 1998 on former tobacco farmland, it has grown into an upper-income suburb of large lots and new developments along the NC-68 corridor. It is home to Oak Ridge Military Academy — founded in 1852, the third-oldest military school in the nation still operating and North Carolina's official military school.
