About Artesia

Artesia is a small, densely built city of about 16,500 in southeastern LA County with deep Portuguese and Dutch dairy-farming roots — once dotted with dairies, now a compact residential community. Its defining feature today is Little India along Pioneer Boulevard, one of the largest South Asian commercial districts in the U.S., with sari shops, sweet shops, and restaurants drawing visitors from across the region. Housing is mostly modest postwar single-family homes, duplexes, and small apartment buildings.
