About Lauderhill
Lauderhill is a city in north-central Broward County, incorporated June 20, 1959, with a 2020 census population of 74,482. The name was coined when developer Herbert Sadkin's friend William Safire objected to the original "Sunnydale," noting "There are probably no dales in Lauderdale, either!" Lauderhill began as Macy's-display "Typical American Houses" by architect Andrew Geller and hosted the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic on the PGA Tour from 1972 to 1983. Now nicknamed "Jamaica Hill," it is a city and home to Central Broward Park, the only ICC-certified cricket stadium in the United States.
