Manalapan is a barrier-island town of just 419 residents (2020) on about 0.45 square miles of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, south of Lantana and north of the Boynton Inlet. Incorporated in 1931 by Harold Stirling Vanderbilt, it is one of Florida's municipalities, defined by ocean-to-lake estates, guarded privacy and virtually no commercial development.
