About Sunrise
Sunrise is a city of about 97,000 residents (2020 census 97,294, per citypopulation.de; read September 24, 2026) in central Broward County, about six miles west of Fort Lauderdale. Originally Sunrise Golf Village, it grew rapidly after the 1970s and is now best known as the home of Sawgrass Mills — one of the nation's largest outlet shopping centers (2.3 million square feet) — and the Amerant Bank Arena, home of the NHL's Florida Panthers. The Sawgrass International Corporate Park is the largest corporate park in South Florida (per alchetron.com/Sunrise history).
