About Apple Valley
Apple Valley is a large, built-out suburb about 14 miles south of downtown Minneapolis in northwestern Dakota County (pop. ~56,000, 2020 census). Developed in the 1950s–60s by Orrin Thompson on former Lebanon Township farmland, it incorporated in 1968 (voters chose "Apple Valley" over "Lebanon Valley").
