About Closter
Closter is a leafy borough of about 8,600 in the Northern Valley, prized for its historic character — its streets still hold many Dutch sandstone houses from the 1700s (several shown in the Commons photos below). Housing is almost entirely single-family: larger colonials, ranches, and split-levels on generous lots, plus a few condo developments. Closter Plaza is the town's longtime shopping hub.
