About Swarthmore

Swarthmore is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, about 10 miles southwest of Center City Philadelphia. The population was 6,543 at the 2020 census. Swarthmore was originally named Westdale in honor of painter Benjamin West, who was one of the early residents of the town. Profile data read September 25, 2026.
