About Griffin

Griffin is the county seat of Spalding County, with 23,478 residents in the 2020 census, nicknamed "The Iris City." Founded in 1840 by Col. Lewis Lawrence Griffin as a Monroe Railroad whistle-stop and chartered as a city in 1846, it rode the rails into the cotton-mill boom.
