About Hampton
Hampton is a city in southwestern Henry County and a southeastern suburb of the Atlanta metropolitan area, with 8,368 residents in the 2020 census (2025 estimate: 9,349). Once known as "Bear Creek" or "Bear Creek Station" for a creek running through the area, the town was moved, established, and renamed in 1873 when the Central Railroad of Georgia was built about a mile to the east.
