About Pine Mountain
Pine Mountain is a town of 1,216 residents (2020 census) in Harris and Meriwether counties — the Harris County portion sits in the Columbus MSA while the small Meriwether portion is in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell MSA. The town began in 1882 when the railroad spread to Pine Mountain from Columbus; until the 1960s it was known as Chipley, and the name was changed to Pine Mountain because of Callaway Gardens.
