Tonawanda is a small city in northern Erie County, New York, on the Niagara River at the western end of the Erie Canal. With about 15,100 residents (2020 census), it is a compact riverfront community of older homes, modest bungalows, and waterfront parkland, sitting directly across the canal from North Tonawanda and just north of Buffalo.
