About Glendale Heights
A village of about 33,176 (2020 census) in DuPage County, Glendale Heights is an almost entirely residential far-west Chicago suburb that grew from just 104 residents in 1959 to a community of over 33,000. Developer-built starting in 1958 by Midland Enterprises, it incorporated on July 13, 1959 as "Glendale" (for its spot between Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale); a naming conflict with a southern Illinois town led to "Glendale Heights" in March 1960, a nod to the ~100-foot rise of the Valparaiso Moraine it straddles.
