About Cleveland
Cleveland is the county seat of Cuyahoga County and the anchor city of Northeast Ohio, founded in 1796 near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River by General Moses Cleaveland. Its location on the river and Lake Erie made it a major commercial and industrial metropolis by the late 19th century, and it ranked among the ten largest U.S. cities for much of the 20th century. Today it is the region's hub for healthcare (Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals), culture (University Circle's museums, Playhouse Square), and professional sports, with downtown and near-west neighborhoods seeing sustained reinvestment. Median listing price (September 2026): $149,900 (Realtor.com Cuyahoga County market page, "Key indicators as of September 2026"; read September 25, 2026).
