About Conneaut
Conneaut is a Lake Erie port city in Ashtabula County at the far northeastern corner of Ohio, near the Pennsylvania line. Its name comes from the Seneca language (meaning disputed); parts of town are still called Lakeville or Amboy (Wikipedia, "Conneaut, Ohio", read September 24, 2026). It grew as a railroad and ore-port town — the Nickel Plate Road roundhouse here was one of the last citadels of high-speed steam freight (Classic Trains, read September 24, 2026). Population was 12,318 in the 2020 Census (2023 estimate 12,360).
