About Shippensburg
Shippensburg is a borough of about 5,500 people (4,315 in the Cumberland County portion at the 2020 census; the borough also extends into Franklin County) in the western Cumberland Valley, anchored by Shippensburg University. Founded in 1730, it is one of the oldest communities in the valley — Widow Piper's Tavern, built in 1735, served as the courthouse in 1750–51.
