Karns is an unincorporated community and census-designated place of about 3,536 (2020 Census) in western Knox County, in the Beaver Creek valley along Oak Ridge Highway (TN-62). Formerly known as Beaver Ridge and Byington, it was renamed for educator Thomas Conner Karns.
