About North Little Rock
North Little Rock (often "NLR") is the metro's twin city on the north bank of the Arkansas River (population 64,591 at the 2020 census, per Wikipedia; Arkansas's 7th-largest city). Briefly annexed by Little Rock in the late 1800s, it regained independence in the early 1900s and has since reinvented its riverfront: the Argenta Historic District downtown is now a thriving entertainment district of theaters, restaurants, and boutiques, and the city has invested heavily in beautification. Housing ranges from historic Argenta and Park Hill homes to mid-century subdivisions and newer developments along the I-40 corridor.
