Lake Forest is a master-planned south-county city named for its two artificial lakes — Lake 1 and Lake 2 — around which the original Leisure World-era development grew. It sits at the foot of Saddleback Mountain with the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park at its doorstep, and the Foothill Ranch business park gives it a jobs base.
