About San Fernando
San Fernando is a city of about 24,000 people (2020 census) completely surrounded by the City of Los Angeles in the northeast San Fernando Valley, incorporated in 1911 (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). One of the valley's oldest communities, it was founded around the Mission San Fernando Rey de España (1797), the valley's namesake — the mission's convento is one of the oldest surviving buildings in California. Lopez Adobe (1882) and the historic San Fernando Mission Cemetery are other landmarks.
