About San Gabriel
San Gabriel is a city of about 40,000 people (2020 census) in the San Gabriel Valley, roughly 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). Named for the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel (1771) — birthplace of the Los Angeles region — the city has one of the area's most concentrated Chinese-American communities and a well-known dining corridor along Valley Boulevard.
