About Torrance

Torrance is a city of about 147,000 people in the South Bay, incorporated in 1921 and named for its founder Jared Sydney Torrance (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). One of LA County's largest and most self-contained suburbs, it has its own beach (Torrance Beach — RAT Beach sits just south in Palos Verdes Estates), the sprawling Del Amo Fashion Center, and a strong Japanese-American community with authentic ramen and markets.
