About Middleton

Middleton ("The Good Neighbor City") is a city of about 21,500 on Lake Mendota's west shore, immediately west of Madison. It combines a downtown (Hubbard Avenue), corporate employers and the Pheasant Branch Conservancy with some of the metro's most. Housing ranges from lake-area estates and historic homes to newer west-side subdivisions and condos.

In 1856, a depot was built by the Milwaukee-Mississippi Railroad Company to serve the community then called Middleton Station. It was replaced by another depot which burned. The present building was erected in 1895 and had a passenger waiting room, a freight room, and a station agent's office. It
