About Inver Grove Heights

Inver Grove Heights (~35,800 in 2020) sits 9 miles southeast of downtown St. Paul, formed in 1965 by the merger of the village of Inver Grove and Inver Grove Township (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). Irish and German farm settlement roots give it a mixed character: older river-bluff neighborhoods and a small-town core in the north and east, 1970s–90s suburban development in the center, and still-rural acreage in the south and west.
