About Norwood Young America
Norwood Young America (~3,900 in 2020), usually called "NYA," is a city about 40 miles west of Minneapolis formed on January 1, 1997, from the merger of Norwood and Young America (per Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). Young America was platted 1856 (incorporated 1876; briefly named Farmington, then Florence) and named for "the vigor and progressiveness of the young people of the United States"; Norwood was platted 1872 (incorporated 1881).
