About Fairview
Fairview (3,463 residents at the 2020 census) is a Union County town incorporated in 2001, spread across more than 30 square miles of rolling countryside. It was named for the "fair view" at the intersection of US Highway 601 and NC Highway 218, as declared by Louretta Vanda Helms Price (per the town's 2040 plan and Wikipedia, read September 24, 2026). Settlement dates to the late 1700s as an agrarian community; four local schools consolidated into Fairview School in 1935, and cotton, corn, wheat — later soybeans, cattle, and dairy farms — drove the early economy.
