Kershaw (roughly 1,800 residents) is a town in southeastern Lancaster County near the Kershaw County line, about 45 miles southeast of Charlotte. Historic railroad town with a quiet downtown; Haile Gold Mine (one of the largest gold mines in the eastern US, now operated commercially) is nearby. Very affordable, rural character.
