About Cross Hill
Cross Hill is a small town in lower Laurens County named for its location at the crossing of a foot trail and a wagon road at the top of a hill. In the early 1890s the whole town relocated a mile south to the new Seaboard Airline Railroad, which made Cross Hill an important business and social center for many years and brought visitors statewide to the nearby Harris Lithia Springs mineral-water resort. Railroads still run through the center of town. Today it's a quiet, low-traffic lake-country town with easy access to Lake Greenwood and Greenwood, about 50 miles from Greenville and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
