About Honea Path

Honea Path — tagline "The Little Town with a Big Heart" — straddles Anderson and Abbeville counties in the Piedmont. Chartered as "Honey Path" in 1885 and renamed in 1917, it grew as a railroad water stop and mill town. The 1934 Chiquola Mill Massacre during the general textile strike is a nationally known chapter of its history (featured in PBS's "The Uprising of '34"). Today it's a residential community with large lots, strong small schools, a public swimming pool (one of two municipal pools in the state), honeybees art installations downtown, and an annual Honey Soppin' Contest in the fall.
