About Laurens
Laurens is the county seat and largest community of Laurens County, named for Revolutionary War patriot Henry Laurens. County seat since 1792, its downtown is an intact National Register historic district (111 contributing properties, listed 1980) — the courthouse square (shown in the Commons photo below), commercial blocks, and residential streets in Greek Revival, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman styles.
