About Hastings
Hastings is a census-designated place in southwest St. Johns County — it was incorporated as a town until March 1, 2018, when residents voted to dissolve the municipality, and it is now an unincorporated community. With only a few hundred residents, it is best known as the "Potato Capital of Florida," surrounded by the cabbage and potato farmland that defined it for a century. It is the most rural, agricultural community in the Jacksonville metro scope.
