About Orange Park
Orange Park is an incorporated town of about 9,089 residents (2020 census) on the western shore of the St. Johns River, just south of the Jacksonville city limits. It is the gateway suburb of Clay County: the official town limits are small (roughly 7.4 square miles), but Orange Park postal addresses cover a much larger suburban area of Clay County, including much of Fleming Island's shopping corridor. Founded in 1877 as a citrus-colony town (sources differ on the incorporation date: Wikipedia lists 1877, the town's own history says 1879 — see below), it grew into a riverfront suburb with a historic River Road district of grand old homes, the Club Continental riverfront hotel and the Moosehaven along US 17. The vibe is established suburban with deep historic roots along the river.
