About Greendale
Greendale (about 14,500 residents) is one of three New Deal–era "Greenbelt" planned communities in the U.S., and its 1930s Historic Village Center — a National Register historic district with the original village hall (shown in photo 4) — still anchors daily life with shops, the library, and summer concerts. Set in the Root River valley southwest of Milwaukee, it blends that historic core with post-war ranch neighborhoods and newer subdivisions, plus the Scout Lake county park.
