About Port Washington

Port Washington (about 12,500 residents) is Ozaukee County's seat and its prettiest harbor city — a bluff-top downtown of 19th-century commercial buildings overlooking Lake Michigan, with the 1860 Light Station (shown in photos 1–4), a working marina, and the annual Fish Day festival, the world's largest one-day outdoor fish fry. Housing is historic Victorians and bungalows near the lake plus subdivisions and estates spreading west toward I-43.
