About Town of Hempstead

The Town of Hempstead is one of three towns in Nassau County and the most populous town in the United States, encompassing two villages covered separately here (Hempstead village and Freeport) plus dozens of other villages and hamlets from the Queens border to the Suffolk line. It spans the full South Shore — including Atlantic Beach, the Five Towns, Long Beach's neighbors, and Jones Beach — and stretches north to the Gold Coast.
