About Nelsonville
Nelsonville is a one-square-mile village in the Town of Philipstown, northeast of Cold Spring — dubbed "The Hiker's Hamlet" by the NY State Greenway Conference and certified a Scenic Area of Statewide Significance in 1983. Named for Elisha Nelson (buried in the village's old cemetery), it marked its 170th anniversary of incorporation in 2025, with nine locations on the National Register of Historic Places.
