About Roslyn Harbor
Roslyn Harbor is an incorporated village in the Town of North Hempstead, on the north shore of Long Island in the Greater Roslyn area. It incorporated on October 17, 1931, so residents could write their own zoning codes and laws under the Municipal Home Rule Law (per diaocthongthai.com); an earlier proposed name was "Roslyn Hills," after the LIRR's advertising of the area as the "Switzerland of Long Island," but "Harbor" was chosen to reflect its proximity to Hempstead Harbor.
