About Stewart Manor
Stewart Manor is an incorporated village in the Town of Hempstead — a tight-knit residential village of about 0.2 square miles tucked between Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Franklin Square, and Garden City. Originally developed as "Sunrise Gardens" from 1925, residents renamed it Stewart Manor in 1927 and incorporated as a village that same year; the name honors Alexander Turney Stewart, founder of neighboring Garden City, via the adjacent Stewart Manor station.
