About Valley Stream
Valley Stream is an incorporated village in the Town of Hempstead on the Queens border — the largest village in this batch at 37,196 residents (2020). First settled by Scottish immigrants in 1834 as farming communities (Foster's Meadow, Rum Junction, Skunk's Misery, Hungry Harbor), it incorporated in 1925 and became a dense suburban hub: Money Magazine named it "the best place to live in New York" for 2017.
