About Woodsburgh
Woodsburgh is an incorporated village in the Town of Hempstead on the South Shore — part of the Five Towns (though not one of the original "five": Lawrence, Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Inwood, and the Hewletts). Named for Samuel Wood, the local executive who with partner Robert Burton developed a resort community here in the late 19th century, it incorporated in 1912 when residents voted for home rule.
