About Deltona
Deltona (~93,692 residents, 2020 Census; topped 100,000 in the 2024 Census estimates, per beaconjournal.com, read September 24, 2026) is the most populous city in Volusia County. It began as "Deltona Lakes," a 1962 planned residential community master-planned by the Mackle Brothers and the General Development Corporation, and its name is a portmanteau of DeLand and Daytona Beach. Sitting on the northern shore of Lake Monroe, it is largely residential and functions as a commuter city for Orlando and Daytona Beach, with abundant lakes and parks throughout.
