About Lake Helen
Lake Helen (~2,842 residents, 2020 Census; ~3,028 estimated 2026, per worldpopulationreview.com, read September 24, 2026) is a small historic city just southeast of DeLand. In 1883–84, Henry DeLand purchased a 350-acre tract here and named both its lake and town after his daughter, Helen. It grew as a winter resort, citrus center, railroad terminus, and mill town, and retains a well-preserved historic district. A quiet, small-town community with a rural feel minutes from DeLand's college-town amenities.
