Founded in 1871 as Hawks Park by Dr. John Milton Hawks and incorporated in 1924, its name reflects its location on the edge of the Indian River. Known as "The Hospitality City," it offers boating, fishing, and birdwatching along one of the country's most biodiverse estuaries, with easy access to the beaches of New Smyrna Beach.
